Gran Turismo 5 -General Talk-
« on: December 26, 2009, 10:16:13 AM »

Hey guys, kickin' this thread off with some screenshots. You will be able to snap 20 MP images in photomode and they will be saved directly on the HDD so there wont be any quality loss. I downloaded the demo 2 days ago and I got 1:38:800 with tuned car so far, post your times here ;)
Release will be in March 2010, bit later in Europe/USA and I can't ****ing wait!

I love the physics! Feels like a real driving simulator with the realistic weight tansfer and that you really have to be careful and pump the throttle in order to avoid oversteer. The less inputs you give to the car the quicker you'll be, just like in real-life. I'm very pleased with the physics, yes.  :-*

The only flaw from what I can see, is the sound. I seriously can't stand the sound the tires make, and also the fact that they are screaming for no reason at all.
I hope they'll have that corrected for the release coz IMHO its really something that ruin the experience, I like to refer to the tires sound to know what my car is doing.

Pictures are epic! FM3 got owned, I have to admit.

I really hope they add skidmarks to the release because that's not in the TT demo  ???
But it's only 200MB so they must have decreased graphic features and only put focus on showing off the new physics.
Btw I agree with you Waider, it's kinda ugly that the tire screams like hell in the first long banked corner before the main straight. I mean ***? :P

Also ordered a Driving Force GT, the official GT5 wheel for maximum pleasorrree. The force feedback is just as good as the G25, the only difference between the two is the build quality of the G25, and the Driving Force GT has no clutch nor H-shifter but it's 1/3 of the G25's price so IMO it's a great buy.

I tried DFGT at friends place and I find this not true at all. The difference in ffb is easily noticable when drifting.

But no clutch dude!
I assume you don't have a G25 if you made that choice?

Is the clutch really that well developed (it isn't from what I've heard), because if it isn't I could do without it. I do not own the G25 but I have tried it in a racing cockpit sim, was nice :) I just don't feel like spending 300+ dollars on a wheel.

Feels good that the GT is developed in and for GT5 since I will only play this game with the wheel, for example steering-lock will change depending on what car you're in, so it would have the same lock as the car has in real-life. What matters to me is the realism and feel of the wheel and the force-feedback, and many people say it's little to no difference between G25 and GT in GT5.

I don't know about the realism of the clutch, I know that FM3 clutch is apparently really good with the Fanatec wheel so there is a hope that it'll be the same in GT5.
