Thinking of buying a DELL laptop
« on: December 28, 2011, 03:52:48 AM »
Hi guys, I might be buying a DELL laptop soon. I need it for school and gaming purposes too.

This is the model I might be buying

Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor (2.20GHz) Mobile CPU
17.3" High Definition (1600x900)WLED
1.0 Megapixel camera (1280 x 720) with Microphone
6GB - 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
640GB SATA (5400 rpm) Hard Drive
8x DVD +/- RW Drive
2GB nVidia Geforce GT 525M
Dell Wireless 1702 (802.11 b/g/n)
Dell Bluetooth v3.0 card
Microsoft Windows 7 Premium (64bit)

What games do you think it'll be able to handle?

If you are going tp use it for games, I would go for Desktop PC for the same amount of money you can build a mid-range gaming PC.
Don't get fooled by the 2gb GeForce GT525M, from my expiriencewith GT 530 2gb, on a desktop pc only games that were not laging was LFS, CS, TF 2, TDU 2 and that was pretty much it, i don't think this GT525M where the M stands for the mobile version, would perform any better.

Thanks guys! Yes, I'll use it for school, so a desktop is out of the question, I'm happy if it can atleast run games like bf3, tdu2 and gta 4 etc.

Looks great but i'd get a smaller PC for school since it's not really fun getting stalked every class since your screen is huge ;D

Thanks NoLimit, yes I'm thinking about the 15" and 17", I'll guess I'll have to see them in the shop to see which one I like best :)
