That is compressor surge, not bov.

^that and open airfilter = sounds like BOV but it isnt.
(thats why i asked to see if it was compressor surge or not, sounds nearly the same) ;)

Cavitation is the reason you should put a BOV on. Get one, make the spring as loose as possible see if it still surge, then tighten. Might also want to check your manifold for exhaust leak.

They are a tiny bit better for the car agreed, but they suck...the only way to go with an SR20DET is the pigeon mod!

There is no any recirculation valve between throttle and turbocharger. When throttle closes, air goes back through turbochargers blades. I guess that is the pigeon mod.

All depend on the quality of the turbo, it does sound good.

Personally, i wouldn't take a chance, i don't have much money.

Plus, there's BOV that sound good out there.

Forgot to add, if you're running low on boost, it's negligible.

Indeed...

My S13 had a HKS SSQV...I removed it as pigeon sounded better

My S14 had a SARD, sounded like the car had the flu and was sneezing...went in the bin!

That's allso called compressor surge.  My friends s13 has no bov either he gets the compressor surge sound (similiar to rally cars but more silent).

But mason didn't you notice you get more turbo lag without ssqv? I mean without bov the turbo stalls and it has to spool up all they way up again when you hit the throttle.
C-Day is my hero.

They see me rollin', they hatin.

the turbo doesn't stall and any kind of lag it could create would be so small you wouldn't notice, i took my HKS ssqv off before i drove my car due to it sounding horrible :D

you should really try to find a new tyre that is cheap and good for drifting, it sucks having to pit every few laps because the 2nd hand tyre's you bought get ripped apart

Noticed a tad on the CA18DET with the T28R, but with the SR20DET on standard turbo you don't notice lol
