Yo guys !

I opened this thread because its easy to show some things that i rebuild.
I cant post that in post a pic of ur car/motor topic.
If im working om something i love to make pictures from begin to end..
A few days ago i saw a front brake disc conversion kit on the internet for my mini.
It need a rebuild because it wasnt used for 15 years, but the set was from a 1970 mini so more than 40 years old !
I wanted the conversion kit , so i picked it up for 200 euro.
First things what i see is dirt oil and dirt, thats something what i dont like dirt !
Sow first cleaned everything with diesel, to make sure what i must rebuild.
After checking :
Brake caliper rebuild
New discs
New pads

Enough talking here some pics  ;)

After cleaning with diesel

Cleaned the ball bearings and new grease

40 years old

A little piece is broken by the hole where a pin is going through the pads, my dad is gonna weld it on his work  ;D

Here a dirty rusty piston, its gonna be replaced by a RVS piston that hopefully never rust again

The other side

Now u can actually see what is pressed on the caliper

Old rubber ring out

Polished the cilinder with fine metal polish

Dirtyyyy

New nipple on it and also polished the cilinder

Steering arm

My good old Bosch, still can do it fine haha

2 clean calipers now, but still waiting for my parts....

Today im gonna continue  8)

Thanks Rob !
Haha the front is a bit wider now, thinking to get really thin spacers for the rear.
Replacing the disc is like 3 bolts and 4 screws and u got the disc in ur hand haha :P
The car is so easy to work on, i can get the engine out in 30 min lol  :D
The reverse light comes from an scrap Austin Cambridge haha

Haha ok ;) Neh i meant it differently. Do you have the 10 or 12 inch wheels? (12 i think) usually discs are a little bigger than that, thats what i meant. But seeing it does fit it means the discs must be smaller than usual which could make it hard to find replacement discs if these wear out ;)

Thanks  :)
Rob its still on 10 inch wheels.
The brake discs are 7.5 inch , and thats the only option if u wanna ride with 10 inch wheels.
If u go bigger like 7.9 or 8.4 inch brake discs the 10 inch wheels will not fit, then u must get 12 inch wheels or 13.
U can get everything for the mini so spare parts are no problem  :)
Only 7.5inch spare parts are expensiver.
I pay`d for my new 7.5 discs 50 pounds and 8.4 was 25 pounds.....
