Sounds awesome, but does it detect layouts ?

@warlock
:))) Need more data to compute !!!
What do u mean by detect layout precisely ?
is it about detection of  colliding objects or is it about automatic positionning of markers at apex or something else ?

I dont know if it is awesome, but sure it is quiet some fun at battles already !

I mean like, the insim see apexes like for example, green cone. So the layout makers will just put green cones for clips, and insim will recognize them.

@WarLock
Sure it would be nice, more precise and easier to code the marker positioning system. I thought about that too. The bad news is that one can not know which or what type a layout objet is, nor its position or whatever. My guess is that dev wanted that to keep packet size reduced, or maybe to avoid some potential security hole to allow some spamming with layout objects.
The only things available from layout packets (as far as i know from Insim4 doc) will be no help for ur idea. There is a load function, a save function, a 'what are the layout available for this track, and a flag which report one (anyone, no more info) collided object.
I thought to use that collision flag and position my cone markers at least let say 50 meters from each other, so when one is collided, i would know it is the closest one the the car position, and then that the apex is failed because the only object in the zone is the apex cone marker. But I found that too limitative for layout editing, and it's ineffective concerning ur question.
But once again, it would make things lot easier... whenever someone knows a trick, is welcome : )

Things happened :
Anti-lawnmower system !
Grass markers added. Driving on one displays warning on screen, and cuts the totalscore to 90% of its value at time of eval. If next eval reports grass again, then another cut to 90% etc,... endlessly till car exits the grass marker zone. This can be heavy penalty when score is high.
Marked BL1 GP for demo server, now scans 289 grass markers + 8 apex... runs fine but system is pretty heavy in CPU processing atm (now my lapper eats 1% of a core on a quad6600 at 3Ghz (which is quite huge seen what the toy does...), and the positioning is a pain, I may rewrite it.
But it works fine : )

This sounds VERY interesting, in use for competitions, as a TOOL for judges.

Qual mode:
Same as online, mesuring line/speed/angle/distance

A battle mode would be awsome:
draw/give points for distance to lead car
draw/give points for less/more angle
draw/give points for less/more speed

Info ONLY givven to player with "[JUDGE]" in nick.

This would help the Judge(s) to give points more accuratly :)

Hopefully we will have a chance to test this soon ;)

Ok I will add that. All those numbers would get the drifter out of focus, or at least reduce his available brain bandwidth to care his line : )
Battle mode should happen one day.

Things changed
I added a stability bonus. It is triggered when car angle variation in zone of marker is less than 15°. The bonus is higher as angle stability is higher = angle variation is lower. For 15° variation u get 6% bonus, for 1° u get 100% for 0.5° get  200% etc. (this may change)  Then stability bonus is added to the existing attitude bonus if there has been one, then corner score is increased according to the total amount of bonuses.
This feature may allow to stretch drift angle limit up to 100° or more, as keeping stable a 90° drift angle during whole corner should definitely get a bonus. On the other hand if the drifter makes wide angle entry and looses too much of it (15° atm) even a small amount of time, then bonus factor is lost.

: )

the insim really rocks, i haven't been in your server for a while, dont know if you already have the battle system but it would rock too ;) other than that, only the smoke factor is missing, when you manage to put that in your insim it's going to be LEGEN w8 for it.....
