Greatest car: opinion
« on: April 18, 2009, 12:12:51 AM »
No bashing please.
Post the car you think is the best car ever made.

1. No ITR or CTR. They're econobox turned lapping monsters.
2. No F1, dumbos. We can go on posting F1 pics forever.
3. One car. Greatest = key word = singular term.
4. Post a small spec sheet if possible.

Ferrari F40/F40LM
The last Ferrari built under Enzo Ferrari himself. Ferrari stopped making Ferrari after Enzo died.
Also, the greatest turbocharged car humanity has ever encountered. Screw the Veryon whale and the W16 quad turbo 4WD failure. The Reventon max out @ 368km/h, in 2008. This is 1990. lol.

LMAO!!!

haha. save this thread, please.

@ deathstar: the original Ford GT40 maybe? Isn't it a much greater legend then the Sierra, by MILES?!!
@Maxim: imo, E34 > E39  ;D btw a E34 M5 + chip will still spank a E46 M3.
@Supernam: because a Civic at the end of the day is a Civic, whether, it's running with a D16, B16, B18, or a K20, it's still a Civic. I've had a fair share of Honda's in my lifetime and they are the best DAILY drivers. that's it.

And for as far is i know the cosworth model is only 4wd... Thats why its a cosworth and not a normal sierra with a cosworth kit...

But I have to agree with supernam... That F40(the LM in particular) is build to race...

I don't know if race cars are allowed but to me this one is the greatest!

If the FIA boss wasn't a pussy (and changed the rules) this car would have beat everything in Le Mans series and other races.

Spec sheet

Chassis/Body
Body construction: Kevlar/carbonfibre composite
Wheels: 18 in x 12 in front/18 in x 14.75 in rear Volk Racing Magnesium Alloy (17 in x 12 in front/17 in x 14.75 in rear)
Brakes: Carbon Industries outboard ventilated 14-inch (360 mm) carbon discs and callipers (Brembo steel)
Lighting: 2 Cibie headlights on each side
Weight: c. 850 kg

Engine
Spark plugs: 3 per rotor
Fuel system: Nippon Denso electronic fuel injection
Battery: Pulsar
Maximum Power: 700 hp (520 kW)/9000 rpm
Maximum Torque: 448 ft·lbf (607 N·m)/6500 rpm

From the Mazda Motor Museum website, it claims the engine has a maximum output of 930 hp (690 kW), and a maximum redline of 10,500rpms. This setup was not used during racing for worries associated with reliability; also gearboxes at that time could not handle such a high redline in an endurance application without mechanical failures.
