01 - stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site
Free stock photos which contains a lot of high-resolution pictures so this is ideal for wallpaper manipulating or whatever else you can think of, you will need to sign-up an account to gain access to these

02 - deviantART: where ART meets application!
Free stock photos and renders are available here for your enjoyment. It is free to get photos here without signing up but in doing so, you will gain more privileges while browsing through. You also have the choice of upgrading your account by paying money to gain even more privileges. Copyright counts here so make sure you contact the original artist in using their work.

03 - Planet Renders
You will use their forum points to access their renders. They are a forum-based render site, use it to your leisure.

04 - GameRenders - Your Source For Free Gaming Renders
You will their forum points to access their renders. They are a forum-based render site, use it to your leisure.

05 - Stock Photos | Shutterstock: Royalty-Free Subscription Stock Photos
An absolutely fanastic stock picture site, probably number one on the internet. A downside for this is that you will need to subscribe by paying money in order to start using the site.

06 - Anime Paper - Anime and Manga wallpapers and scans!
A dedicated anime wallpaper site which contains what they like to call 'scans'. Scans are their anime renders that came out of a number of places including magazine covers, newspapers, official manga books and posters. You will need 'papers' in order to get the 'scans'. To get the papers you will need to talk on their forum, as simple as that. Signing up an account there will need to be done. Copyright counts here so make sure you contact the original artist in using their work

07 - Free Photos, Free Stock Photos, Photography
Also another awesome free picture site just like stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site, no signing-up is needed to get the photos but in doing so you will gain more privileges.

08 - GSA - Game Sprite Archives
The perfect library for 'sprites'. Sprites are little pixel pictures which are low in detail but are perfect content for game signatures and other means of fan base banners etc.

09 - Free Textures from TextureKing
For those who does 3D artwork and modeling, look here for free high-resolution textures for your bump and skins. These can also be used in Adobe Photoshop to texture a photo or anime/cartoon picture, very useful.
